having to go back to high school after spending all year acting like a college kid with a bunch of awesome high schoolers from other schools and taking harder classes but still being a slacker is very difficult.
its like trying to learn how to ride a bike again or something.
even though people say "it's like riding a bike- you never forget" about stuff, but you can forget how to ride a bike, therefore you can also forget how to do whatever it is the old person says you can't forget.
um...I forgot what I was talking about.
oh yeah.
I feel very rant-y today. huh.
but, today I was reminded that highschool isn't all bad, at least not every day.
I was late to lunch today (my first "class" of the day...) because for some reason I can't seem to wake up before 11:30am anymore.
it was even worse today because the schedule is all screwy since they're doing SOL tests now, so when I arrived, I had about 8 minutes to stuff my food down my throat.
all the seats at the table I usually sit at were taken, and I ended up having to sit at the very end of a half-empty table, trying to ignore the kids at the other end probably wondering who the heck I thought I was, highjacking their table like that.
2 minutes later, one of the girls said "do you want to sit with us?"
and instead of doing the awkward "ignore them and maybe they'll disappear" thing or try to explain that I'm too anti-social to sit with them, I simply picked up my bag and my food and scooted down next to them.it was 2 guys and 4 girls. I only recognized one person, and that was because he had tried out for drumline last winter.
he apparently recognized me too, because he's the one who started talking to me.
josh: what's your name again?
me: Ireland.
josh: hey, I'm josh.
random girl: I'm Jamie.
another random girl: Katie.
me: hey
josh: you probably won't remember our names in 5 minutes anyway. what grade are you in?
me: 11th.
josh: ok, cool. I'm a senior, all of them are- hey, what are you guys, juniors?
random girl: we're all sophomores, josh. how many times have we told you this?
josh: yeah, yeah. I knew that. and he's a freshman (points to other guy)
we just talked about random junk for a few minutes, and when the bell rang we still sat there.
josh: we usually wait until that mess of people clears out a little before we even try to leave.
and because I wasnn't done with my Red Baron pizza, I waited with them. eventually we all got up and started heading for the doors. I decided to try to sneak my pizza out because it was really good and I still hadn't finished it.
josh and his little posse stopped to throw their trash away.
josh: hey, Ireland! your walking too fast, wait for us!
me: oh sorry, its a habit.
josh: are you gonna sit with us from now on?
me: I don't know
josh: we'll see, huh?
me: yep.
I somehow managed to make a bunch of new friends, just like that. weird.
then I had to go sit in band class for a while. which is always lame because I don't even do anything. I just sit there and read. luckily for me, my friend mary came over and asked if I wanted to come play Bananagrams with her and the receptionist at the front desk.
if you've never played Bananagrams, it's basically just a weird version of Scrabble.
all the people coming into the school probably thought we were crazy. especially the receptionist, who had to keep taking a break to answer the phone or tell a parent how to get to the office.
it's very intense, though.

hey, that Josh kid is the one I might make a band with xD
i like them already. i want to join your table so i can bitch about my sorry lunch and then ask everyone else "you gonna eat that...?"
if i could just sit there and play bananagrams at the front desk all day, i would totally start going to public school. that sounds pretty awesome.
it was pretty much the best day ever. thanks for the comments guys!
