[background: I'm in this program in my school that requires riding a bus twenty minutes to the local branch of the community college where me and the rest of the group (seniors from the 3 high schools in our county) take classes so that when we graduate high school, we already have our associates degree. nifty, huh? now enjoy this lovely story]
just for the record, my school system is really stupid.
90% chance of "wintry mix" = no school. remember that next time. kthxbai.
after a complete waste of a day, the three of us from my high school boarded the bus and set out.
I live amongst the blue ridge mountains, so the road was curvy and it was starting to get slushy.
hence the snow chains.
after about five minutes, we hear a snap and then this obnoxious SLAP! SLAP! SLAP!
we pull over to the side of the road and our bus driver gets off to check the tires.
one of the snow chains has snapped, great.
she radios another bus which was already in our area to come pick us up and take us the rest of the way to school, and we prepare to wait. and wait.
at this point I should mention that both Adam and Alden (the two other seniors with me) had gone out to lunch, and drunk 32 ounces of soda.
eventually Adam decides he can't take it anymore, and asks if he can step into the woods to...ahem..."relieve himself".
bus driver: Nope, sorry.
adam: What? Why not?
bus driver: I'd have to radio it in and ask permission.
adam: *blank stare*
bus: if someone drove by and saw the bus sitting here and you standing over in the woods, I could get in big trouble for letting you off the bus!
adam: *blank stare*
BD: Hey...did you get on here with a cup?
adam: yeah...
BD: well, pour it out...and you can stand right outside the bus and go in that.
adam: um...okay (I think he was getting pretty desperate at this point)
sadly for adam, a cop decides to pick that moment to pull up. BD frantically tells adam to get back in his seat while she explains to the popo in the unmarked car why we're chillin on the side of the road .
she just couldn't seem to keep her mouth shut about adam's little problem, so they come up with the plan for us three girls (me, alden, and BD) to go to the back of the bus while mr. policeman escorted adam to the woods.
adam just looked at her and said "no thanks, I'll hold it."
I think the possibility of the cop being a closet pedobear was too great of a risk for him. even if his bladder was about to explode.
we were then informed that we should probably drive up the road a little to where there is a small parking lot we can pull off into.
a minute of slow, up-hill driving in a bus that feels like its about to fall apart any minute seems a lot longer than it really is, just so you know.
we finally reach this little run down old mechanic shop and pull in. it was a really sketch place and I wondered how this was safer than just sitting on the side of the road (I took a picture of it on my phone before I remembered I can't connect it to my computer...fail).
I happened to glance out the window and I see a hippie-looking dude with these giant cable-cutter things walking towards us and almost flipped out...then I realized he was a bus maintenance dude who came to fix the snow chains.
by now its pouring down freezing rain...and I'm starting to think I'll miss my ride home.
finally our replacement bus arrives and we hurry to cross the street and get on...
...only to see its almost packed with bridge school* kids and other slackers who go to a local vocational school.
we spent the rest of the ride listening to their constant cussing and immaturity while the bus driver yelled at them to "Shut up, already!!"
What a wondrous day.

*A place where "troubled" kids go to sit in one room the entire day to do their school work, they get sent there when they screw up really bad- the final step before they get expelled. I once met a ten year old kid who had to go there because he brought a gun to school to trade his friend for an iPod touch. You hear that, Apple? You're making kids into delinquents!

"We'd find a cure, but we're too lazy."
| Senioritis, noun- | ||
A common disease which plagues high school seniors at one point during their last year in high school. Before they graduate, they are overcome with a lazy and indifferent attitude; uncaring of their studies. There are many different causes of the disease, but it can often be contagious between close friends. They might have many absences and a generally dismissive outlook towards any type of labor whatsoever. [urbandictionary.com] The thing is, I've had senioritis ever since I can remember. Not as bad as the stoners, cheerleaders or jocks' cases tend to be; but there has been a generally apathetic view towards schoolwork since at least sixth grade. It has gotten worse this year, though. for example, I can't seem to pay attention for more than five minutes at a time, so when I take notes, they usually don't make sense or end up having doodles drawn all over them.... these are my government notes from monday: (click to enlarge (that's what she said)) I bet you wish you took notes as well as I do. and here are just a few of the immensely doodled powerpoint notes from my sociology class: the bottom of this one is definitely my favorite ^ besides my issues with paying attention in class, I really am just tired of all the stupid drama in high school. I spend most of my day at the local community college now, but just two class periods a day with these idiots is enough. (and now an angry rant at all cheerleader-types...) just yesterday I came out of a bathroom stall to find a row of girls with their purses in the sinks (ew), just to use the mirror to do their make-up. really? REALLY?! I had to leave to find another bathroom to wash my hands, and I could just hear them starting to murmur "did that girl not wash her hands? that's gross!" really? you're the ones hogging all the sinks you stupid bubbleheads! what do you expect me to do? I shouldn't have to ask to be able to wash my hands, it is a bathroom, not your personal vanity. you should have to ask me to use the sinks for your...purses. really? why can't you paint your stupid faces at home? why is it even that important? you don't want any of the guys at this school anyway! they all basically act like 10 year olds with more testosterone! speaking of which, today at breakfast a group of immature sophomores had some balloon the kept blowing up and then letting the air out slowly, so it would squeak obnoxiously. after about 10 repeats of this, I hear a "SHUT UP!" from across the cafeteria. it was one of those "I'm a preppy blonde who likes to pretend I'm a redneck that lives in a trailer park" types (and I know how stupid that sounds...these people give virginia a bad name). anyway, the stupid group of boys just looks at her, not believing she's serious, and one of them yells back "NO!", making his whole group giggle (yes, these are 15 year-old boys who giggle) she gets up and storms across the cafeteria while her "white trash" friends cheer her on. when she gets to them she starts chewing them out, but quietly so none of the teachers can hear all the F-bombs she's dropping on them. as she walks away she yells back over her shoulder "You faggots need to grow up!" (her words, not mine) then she grabbed her stuff and left the cafeteria. they didn't play with the balloon anymore, but kept on being pigheaded nincompoops amongst themselves anyway. what they really needed was a good punch in the face. | ||

it's about to get real, son
yeah...I can't sound gangsta....sorry.
Anyway, I am here today because I feel like a jerk.
I never have time to blog even though I want to.
I promised you guys new posts and they are still swirling around in my head instead of being on my blog.
It makes me sad.
BUT!
(that's a big but...)
I am going to blog more, starting today!
for real this time!
seriously!
I promise!
hopefully.
It doesn't help that my senioritis has recently gotten a lot worse...
(in fact, that is the topic of a long post I am still working on)
oh yeah! I just remembered.
I drew shoes.
I know how weird that sounds, but I thought you would want to know.
here ya go:
There was something else I was going to write about...but I can't remember what is was.
Oh well.
anyway, my next post will be up by the end of the week (seriously), and don't forget to go check out and follow my other blog (you know, if you want to...)
thanks for actually sticking around and being awesome followers even though I suck at posting regularly :)

Saturday, August 7
an unfortunate incident involving a hershey bar.
a week ago a big group of teenagers from my church took an end-of-the-summer trip to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.
I should have known not to go.
I should have remembered that "guess what, Ireland? you don't have any friends going. you don't have any friends in that church and it was too late notice to bring someone from 'the outside' (aka someone not from our youth group)"
I should have told my mom to make my two little brothers stay home.
I shouldn't have done a lot of things, but I did.
I'm an idiot.
It all started on the trip there.
it's about a 9-10 hour drive to Sandusky in a charter bus.
10 hours filled with screaming children (my youth pastor's two kids), no comfortable way to sit to take a nap, a smelly bathroom, a portable DVD player thats battery only lasts 2 hours so I can't finish Lord of the Rings (so sad...), bad fast food (*COUGH* mcdonald's *COUGH*), annoyingly loud teenagers.....
I could go on.
we FINALLY arrive in Sandusky to discover that we'll be staying in a lovelyhotel motel called Super 8. and here is the lovely sign out front....
I really don't believe that first line. I mean, sure, the rooms seem clean; but for some reason they give me the distinct feeling that if I lay down on the bed I will be enveloped in a layer of invisible radioactive slime. no joke.
and the third one- they really shouldn't put 2 separate "perks" mushed together like that, some idiot is gonna be real upset when the internet for his laptop doesn't work from the bottom of the deep end...and he would probably win if he sued them. I mean, the evidence is right on their sign- false advertising.
a motel down the street has a sign that reads "free wifi breakfast". I don't even want to know what that means....
the only good thing about that first night was that we got to go to a local Cici's Pizza (if you don't know what that is.....for shame) where as soon as you walk in they yell "WELCOME TO CICI'S!!!!!!!!!" and they also shout out the different kinds of pizza you can get from the buffet as soon as they come out of the oven...
"MACARONI AND CHEESE PIZZA ON THE BUFFET! it's cheESY!!!"
or
"HAM AND CHEDDAR MAKES OUR BUFFET BETTER!"
so much more exciting than our Cici's back home.
the next day was pretty awesome of course. Cedar Point isn't called "America's Roller Coast" for nothing. they have like 16 roller coasters or something crazy amazing like that. but that is pretty obvious and there isn't anything extremely interesting about rubbing in your face how much fun I had that you didn't have.
except for that one roller coaster that broke down every time we got in line so we never actually got to ride it.....
anyway, onto the trip home.
I decided to wear the shirt I bought at the park because it was pretty epic and it matched my stylin' plaid shorts perfectly.
That was a bad idea.
for the first couple of hours went pretty much as expected, but not quite as bad as the ride there.
we watched a movie, a chaperone passed us out some chocolate, some of the boys in the back we messing around- throwing trash at each other, laying in the aisles, and walking back and forth with a sleeping bag over their head....the usual amusing crap.
then I looked out the window to the right, and the day went downhill from there...
there was a green van, and it was rapidly approaching the side of our bus. and then it hit us, and scraped along our side right next to me.
we had to pull over for and sit for about half an hour while we waited for the cops to come, to collect all of our names, numbers and addresses (we were witnesses, yay); and then called our parents to inform them that we might be late getting home.
I was leaning forward in my seat trying to get a glimpse of the lady who hit us when the girl across the aisle says "Your chocolate exploded on your seat"
at first I was just really grateful she didn't automatically assume I pooped myself or something...
somehow I had sat on the hershey bar without realizing it (what the heck?), and made a mess of it on the seat.
I wiped it up and then sneakily asked one of my brothers if there was any chocolate on my pants.
he immediately burst out laughing- never a good sign.
I had chocolate all over the back of my shorts, and the bottom of my brand new shirt.
WHAT THE HECK?!
when we got to McDonald's (ugh) for lunch, I had to rely on 90's fashion and tie my jacket around my waist to hide the evidence. I looked like an absolute idiot the rest of the day for walking around in 90-something degree heat with a black jacket wrapped around me.
yeah. awesome.

my 17th birthday was Sunday, two days after we got home from Ohio. I still haven't gotten my presents yet because my mom hasn't had time to wrap them (I don't understand the point of wrapping paper- you buy it, wrap stuff up all pretty, then they rip it off and throw it away. what a waste of time)
band camp for this year's Marching Band show started Monday, and that night me and some friends went to our Cici's for dinner and then saw A-Team (epically awesome movie- go watch it!) as a sort-of birthday party for me. I remember when birthday parties involved dumb games like Pin-the-Tail-on-the-Donkey, paper hats, cake....but I'm a teenager, and we are way too cool for that junk now :)
my summer is officially over now that band has started, though. it was good while it lasted, I guess.
I'm actually a little excited for school this year...can't wait to be a senior and finally look down on all the peasants in ninth, tenth and eleventh grades....too bad for them :P
this is actually one of my longer posts, just trying to get you guys caught up on what I've been doing and why I haven't posted recently.
I imagine that one day when I'm famous this blog and all the awesome people (you) who followed me from the beginning will get to share in my triumph....and then I wake up.
dreams are of no use to me if they won't come true...

17 seconds. 120 mph. 90 degrees up, 90 degrees down. I dare you not to be excited about this.
